Richard D. Heller is an AV-rated trial attorney who joined Tripp Scott in 1989 after building a successful litigation practice with the Fort Lauderdale firm Niles , Dobbins & Heller. His extensive experience in commercial litigation includes trust and estate claims, business, construction, and insurance and contract matters.
 
Throughout his career, Heller has successfully represented individuals in various aspects of estate, trust and guardianship litigation, including complex trust- and guardianship-related disputes, undue influence claims, contests of wills and trusts, trust administration claims and guardianship claims.

In addition, he has negotiated multi-million dollar settlements in personal injury and wrongful-death issues and has provided strategic counsel in product-liability claims and negligence matters pertaining to nursing homes and home healthcare agencies. His practice also includes family-law matters, including dissolution of marriage and contested custody claims.

Heller has frequently lectured and published articles relating to his practice areas.  He is an active member of the Broward County Bar Association and the Broward County and American Trial Lawyers Associations. He also serves as an officer of several community organizations, including Business Network International (BNI), where he serves on the membership committee, and the Employment Coalition of Florida, where he serves as Honorary Chairman. 
 
Heller holds a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he attended as a Morehead Scholar, graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
