Business and Real Estate Litigation
Richard Petrovich, a senior associate with Tripp Scott, focuses his practice primarily on complex business litigation and creditors' rights with an emphasis on real estate disputes. He has successfully litigated several multi-million dollar commercial foreclosures throughout the state of Florida, and advocates for clients in every aspect of real estate litigation including commercial landlord tenant disputes, lien claims, purchase and sales agreements, valuation of property, appointment of receivers, and foreclosure of security agreements. He has also gained appointment of receivers over many distressed multi-million dollar assets.
Petrovich acts on behalf Tripp Scott's domestic and international clients in complex business related matters in both state and federal courts, including contract disputes, non-party discovery, copyright infringement claims, employment, and disputes over specially manufactured goods.
Prior to joining the firm, he was a supervising assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney, where he first chaired more than 35 felony jury trials and 60 bench trials varying from drug cases to DUI manslaughter cases.
Due to his unique experience in law enforcement, at Tripp Scott Petrovich handles select matters related to government investigations of businesses and corporate officers. He has assisted clients who have been investigated by or faced criminal charges from the State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs; State of Florida Office of Financial Regulation, the Offices of the State Attorney for Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the United States Department of Defense, the United States Department of Justice and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.
As a law student, Petrovich interned for the Honorable Maria M. Korvick, administrative judge Probate Division, Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, and with the economic crimes section of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida in Miami. In addition, he was a law clerk for an AV-rated boutique tax and estate planning firm in Coral Gables, Fla.
Petrovich holds a law degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and bachelors' degrees in political science from Florida Atlantic University and Agricultural Systems Technology from Iowa State University of Science and Technology, where he lettered in varsity football.
