Biographies

William Cotterall, an associate with Tripp Scott, focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, products liability, health care, aviation and administrative law.

Cotterall, an experienced trial attorney with both federal and state experience works with his clients on all aspects of litigation, from pre-suit, through trial and appeal. Cotterall also counsels clients on litigation exposure, alternative dispute resolutions and risk analysis. He has litigated numerous cases involving business contract disputes and regulatory matters.

Before practicing law, Cotterall worked for the Florida Legislature as a senior legislative aide in the Florida Senate. He worked closely with Florida government agencies, Florida businesses and community leaders in drafting legislation and handling state budgetary issues. During this time, Cotterall also collaborated with key members of the aviation and aerospace industry and Florida 's space program on legislative and economic development matters.

Cotterall is a member of the Florida Justice Association and the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association. Additionally, he is an appointee to and serves on the Florida Bar Aviation Law Committee.

Active in the community, Cotterall is a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital as a "Partner in Hope" as well as a member of Ducks Unlimited, Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, and PetSet which is a fundraising arm of the Humane Society of Broward County.

Cotterall holds a law degree from St. Thomas University , where he was an articles editor for the St. Thomas Law Review. He also received the book award, and honors award, in Trial Practice. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Florida State University with a minor in communications.
