Jake S. Blumstein, is an associate with Tripp Scott in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was born and raised. Jake earned his juris doctor, magna cum laude, from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, where he double-majored in Spanish and Political Science.

Prior to joining Tripp Scott, Jake was an associate attorney at a prestigious employment and labor firm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he represented over 800 employees and employers in a wide range of legal disputes. Jake has particularly extensive expertise in complex employment disputes including class and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida Minimum Wage Act. He has been appointed class counsel by multiple judges throughout the state of Florida. Jake also has extensive experience representing employees and employers in Discrimination and Retaliation claims under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act; Whistle Blower claims under the Private Sector Whistle Blower Act; Disability Discrimination claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act (Titles I, II and III); Restrictive Covenant and Non-Compete claims; Class Action claims under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (“COBRA”); violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”); Tax Fraud claims under 26 U.S.C. § 7434; class action misclassification claims; and others. Jake has also represented parties in dozens of arbitrations before JAMZ and the American Arbitration Association. He was the second chair in a federal jury trial in the Southern District of Florida and represented an employee in a final arbitration proceeding before the American Arbitration Association.

At Tripp Scott, Jake focuses his practice on complex employment and labor disputes, class actions, severance drafting and negotiation, commercial litigation, construction litigation in state and federal court, and more.

After college, Jake was a teacher for the Spanish Ministry of Education, where he taught English to over 200 students in primary - and - secondary language schools in Cartagena, Spain. At the Shepard Broad College of Law, Jake was a member of the ILSA Journal of International & Comparative Law and the Moot Court Society. Additionally, Jake served as the president of his law school’s Jewish Law Student Association (“JLSA”), where he led a delegation of students to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual policy conference and also helped to spearhead local networking events and mentorship programs for JLSA members in South Florida. Jake earned a place on the Dean’s List five consecutive semesters in addition to a book award for the highest grade in federal civil procedure.
