Tripp Scott Names Three New Directors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. XX – Tripp Scott today announced that Catalina M. Avalos, Alexander D. Brown and Lindsay E. Raphael have been promoted to director. All three attorneys were previously associates with the firm.

Avalos, who has been with the firm since 2009, focuses her practice on labor and employment and complex commercial litigation. A former county court judge, she has considerable experience in both civil and criminal court matters. She presided over county and circuit jury and non-jury trials and has litigated numerous jury trials. Avalos holds a law degree from Nova Southeastern University where she on the Dean's List, was elected vicepresident and president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and received recognition for her trial skills.

Brown joined the firm in 2005 and specializes in complex business litigation and intellectual property litigation. As trial counsel, he has managed issues ranging from insurance coverage disputes to false advertising claims, federal Lanham Act claims and patent and copyright infringement claims. Before joining Tripp Scott, Brown served as a staff attorney to the HonorableMelanie G. May, a judge with Florida's Fourth District Court of Appeal. Brown holds a law degree, magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from Barry University.

Raphael has been with Tripp Scott since 2003 and focuses her practice on condominium and homeowner association matters, general corporate and contract law, and finance and corporation transactions. Before joining Tripp Scott, she worked as a summer associate with the firm and as ajudicial intern with Judge W. Herbert Moriarity in the 17th JudicialCircuit in Fort Lauderdale. Raphael holds a law degree, magna cum laude, from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor'sdegree, magna cum laude, in business administration from Lynn University.
