Tripp Scott’s Paul Lopez Named Honoree of the Valor Awards from the American Diabetes Association

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 23, 2011 – Tripp Scott announced today that Paul Lopez, director, has been recognized as an honoree of the Valor Awards from the American Diabetes Association.

The honors will be presented at the organization’s 11^th annual award ceremony to be held on May 11at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale.

The Valor Awards are given to community leaders who have made significant philanthropic contributions to the community.

Lopez chairs the litigation department of Tripp Scott, and represents his clients in a number of areas, including employment and business litigation disputes. He has extensive jury trial and complex litigation experience in both state and federal courts and is a Supreme Court certified civil mediator and qualified arbitrator.

He was appointed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 17^th Circuit in Broward County and the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Fourth District Court of Appeal of Florida, where he was re-appointed by Governor Charlie Crist. He served as chair of the Fourth District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission in 2008-09. He is currently serving as the President of the Broward County Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and has served on that organization’s executive committee for a number of years. In addition to leading other philanthropic causes, Lopez has provided pro bono legal services to Hispanic Unity of Florida (HUF) for over 12 years, serving as legal counsel to the Board of HUF.
