Alexander J. Díaz-Thomas is a transactional tax and corporate associate attorney with Tripp Scott and focuses his practice on areas of the taxation of corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurial business, and general business services.

Alex assists clients in tax-related transactions such as like-kind exchanges, the formation and structure of business ventures involving both domestic and offshore business entities, and mergers and acquisitions. He also handles tax disputes and collection matters before the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to joining Tripp Scott, Alex served as an attorney at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Office of Chief Counsel, Financial Institutions and Products.

Alex assists clients in corporate matters, including the structuring and completion of mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, real estate purchases/sales, contract drafting, and general legal compliance.

Alex earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Miami School of Law after obtaining the Dean's Merit Scholarship. While in law school, Alex served on the Inter-American Law Review and published a student note in the University of Miami Law Review concerning the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in venture capital.

Alex earned his LLM in taxation at Georgetown University, where he graduated with distinction.

Alex is fluent in Spanish.
